Species description

Large mushroom of meadows and open woodlands. Brown cap with concentric scales and a distinct nipple in the centre. Tall, slender stipe with a characteristic brown "snakeskin" pattern. IMPORTANT: always check there is no volva at the base (parasol has none, A. phalloides does!).
