Both species grow together for about 10 wk a year. Most strongly from mid-September to mid-October.

Key features

Cap orange with darker concentric zones, depressed in the center, margin inrolled. Gills carrot orange; stem often with darker pits ('eyes'). Milk carrot orange, does NOT turn green right away (or only very slowly). Mycorrhizal only with pine.
